WHEN can you/will you call yourself and 'artist'?
Is it when your have a passion for creating? When you see that it is fun to create and/or when you like what you produce?
Are we 'artists' when our passions provoke us to continue with our art-form, no matter what others may say?
When our skill measures up to our level of passion?
When our skill level supersedes the passion?
Are we 'genuine artists' when we express angst and cause others to stop to think, compare, and feel an augmented degree of our 'humanness'?
When what we do makes MONEY?
Someone decides if a Warhol, or a Bloomer has made the value-grade. Who decides for you, or does it matter in the end?
I believe a Master Sculpture is one who has developed one's tactile sensitivity to the degree that the MS can stroke the wing of a butterfly and find no powdery residue on the fingertips.
Perhaps, this impossible feat is what makes us ARTISTS- we strive for the impossible, to supersede our humanity and enjoy that which gives us, and perhaps others- pleasure, meaning, contemplation, anger, sadness and whatever separates us from the rocks and trees that inspire us?
I am,
therefore
I create.
To eat is essential, to grow one's food is divine, to act in a role expands our consciousness, to draw keeps one focused on the subtle nuances of shape, perspective and color, to sculpt enhances our wonderment of sensitivity, lines and curves, to photograph sheds 'light' on our awareness, to dance inspires other to move with grace and style, to do what you LOVE is art!
Never stop LOVING!
