Labor for most people is done day in, day out.
According to statistics, most people do not LOVE their jobs.
You do it, day in and day out, to pay bills, raise kids, or feel that you are fortunate to have gainful employment at all. YOU are doing what has to be done!
Through heat, danger and possibly boredom, Americans forge ahead with 'business as usual'.
Labor Day recognizes the dedication and determination that we do to pay the bills, live at a higher level of comfort and satisfaction, etc.
'They' also say that art and creativity is what we really do for the FUN!
Artists I have spoken to say the when money enters into their world of
passion-production the
'fun' seems to melt away.
"Getting paid for what we love to do puts a different spin on the feelings it creates. It loses the care-free aspect."
So be it. No one can change that perhaps, but what one can do is to recognize ones passion and accept it as a form of Labor anyway.
Think about it. Many of the skills, time, dedication and search for internal rewards are the same skills that one may do for an employer.
Take a moment and praise the fact that you have a passion and give thanks that you can produce articles of form and service- even though 'money' is not the final goal, or, in many cases, a possibility.
HAPPY LABOR DAY and the forge ahead with the passions that you labor over- no matter what the cost or rewards!
